Mechanical Therapy for Loss of Knee Extension

Arthrofribrosis is a complication of injury or surgery whereas excessive scar tissue leads to painful restriction of knee flexion, extension or both. This scar tissue may form inside or outside of the joint space. As a general rule, this scar tissue remains despite routine rehab and exercise. Arthrofibrosis inhibits normal joint function, reduces range of motion and compromises the patient’s ability to perform normal activities of daily living.
